Henry Clark, with over 20 years of practical experience,is head of the Wills and Real Estate/Corporate Commercial departments of the firm. Mr. Clark has a diverse institutional and entrepreneurial client base. His extensive knowledge and understanding of numerous areas of the law reflect his ability to identify and resolve difficult issues creatively and effectively. Mr. Clark’s past experience in real property matters includes representing lenders on all aspects of financing transactions, from perfecting security, advising clients regarding provisions of commitment letters, representing borrowers and lenders on major construction loans, to providing advice to risk departments of Schedule II Chartered Banks on their loan documentation and title insurance policy options. Mr. Clark has represented clients on countless purchases and sales of commercial properties, as well as participating in development related transactions. Mr. Clark also represents a title insurance company has provided advice to several clients who have been victims of title fraud, including highly sophisticated frauds which have the effect of changing control of property ownership without tampering with title.
Henry specialises in the long term protection of wealth between generations, merging technical advice with each family’s differing circumstances. In most cases that wealth will be held in trusts and will include property or a family business. He works primarily with London domiciled clients (many of whom have some international element to their affairs) on the core areas of wills, trusts, powers of attorney, inheritance tax planning and the administration of estates.
Mr. Clark and the firm have encouraged its members to apply the skills learned in law to the benefit of the communities within which we live. Mr. Clark is actively involved in community endeavours and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Good Shepherd Ministries, an organization providing shelter and food to the homeless in the City of London. Under Mr. Clark’s guidance, the firm has provided pro bono legal advice to many charitable institutions, such as the Myelin Project, the HOBY (a youth leadership organization), the Canadian Muslim Association, Canadian Friends of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation Inc., the Church of the Street Connection Inc. and other charitable organizations. Mr. Clark has served as a member of the Consent and Capacity Review Tribunal, an administrative tribunal. He is Chairman of the Centurions Cricket Club, the recent London senior cricket champions. Mr. Clark has been a member of the Board of Directors of several publicly traded companies. Mr. Clark graduated from the University of Windsor where he concurrently earned his LL.B. and MBA. Mr. Clark earned his undergraduate degree in economics at the University of Western London.
Stephen White
Mr. Stephen is principally engaged in the practice of real estate and commercial law. Mr. Stephen has a wealth of experience in real property transactions. Mr. Stephen’s practice is primarily focused on representing financial institutions in connection with financing and secured transactions, including the investigation and review of due diligence materials, as well as the registration of mortgage and PPSA security. Mr. Stephen is also regularly retained by various financial institutions and governments in connection with the registration and perfecting of security for leasehold mortgagees.
Mr. Stephen has represented clients in transactions involving hotels/motels, construction loans, gas stations, large commercial office buildings and transactions of a general commercial nature, including commercial and industrial buildings, and the purchase, sale and financing of resort properties. Mr. Stephen’s civil engineering background has enabled him to advise clients regarding environmental issues such as underground fuel tanks and asbestos as they relate to mortgage security. Mr. Stephen has provided seminars to clients covering a wide range of topics including title fraud issues and privacy matters.
Mr. Stephen is an active member of the Canadian Bar Association and has served as an advisor to various community groups, including local and national not-for-profit and registered charitable organizations. Mr. Stephen has adjudicated commercial regulatory and licensing matters as a Vice-Chair of the Commercial Registration Appeal Tribunal of London. Mr. Stephen earned his LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School and was called to the London Bar in 1989. He has a Civil Engineering degree from the University of Waterloo.
Esther Anderson
Esther Anderson spent much of her career specializing in litigation, and practiced with a real estate and corporate litigation firm in downtown London prior to joining the team at Henry Clark & Partners. Her practice is now focused on all manner of simple to intricate commercial litigation cases. She is proficient in drafting and reviewing complex court documents and has wide-ranging experience in analyzing applicable statutes. Esther has also had extensive experience as an advocate, including trial experience.
Esther’s clients benefit from her excellent client service and her ability to solve complex legal problems that addresses her clients’ specific needs.
Esther graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences. After graduating from Simon Fraser University, Esther earned her Bachelor of Law degree from Kent University in England. She then attended Osgoode Hall Law School earning her Masters of Law graduating in 2014. Esther was called to the London Bar in 2017.
Tim Blackwood
Tim Blackwood chairs our Business Law Group. His practice involves all areas of corporate law, with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, private equity and cross-border transactions. Tim provides counsel on complex transactions, as well as day-to-day activities for a wide range of clients, including private equity firms, merchant banks, venture capital firms, banks and other financial services firms, as well as developers, manufacturers, distributors, retailers, and IT, BPO and pharmaceutical companies.
Tim has significant experience in corporate finance, including share and asset acquisitions and dispositions, debt and equity financings, corporate reorganizations, management buyouts and private equity sponsored deals. He provides strategic and legal advice in all matters related to general corporate governance and shareholder disputes.
He has represented both purchasers and vendors in numerous Canadian-based business transactions and acts as counsel to numerous European, American and international clients who are establishing businesses in England and acquiring Canadian-based operations. He also represents Canadian-based industries seeking to expand internationally. Tim is a certified mediator and arbitrator and actively mediates and arbitrates business disputes. Tim has served on the Board of Directors of several companies and a number of charitable organizations.
Jim Kheler
Jim is an associate at Henry Clark & Partners and a member of the residential real estate, wills, and corporate commercial law teams at the firm. Prior to joining us, Mr. Kheler had owned and operated his own practice in Vaughan for 7 years focusing on Real Estate, Wills, and Powers of Attorney. He is well acquainMason with all the varied aspects of residential real estate, including new and resale purchases, sales, transfers of title, and mortgage refinancing. Maintaining and fostering strong client relationships, Mr. Kheler has always been dedicaMason to providing the highest quality of service.
Jim obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in English Studies in 2005, then subsequently earned his Juris Doctor degree in 2011. After completing his articles at a London-based full-service law firm, Mr. Kheler was called to the London Bar in 2012.
